F35-IL: Yes
Archived previous-definition assessment — revision 5.73. Retired in 5.82; excluded from the active matrix and counts. This historical verdict is not a current assessment.
Rationale
RFC 6740 sections 5.1, 5.3 and 5.4 describe adding upstream connectivity at a site border router and advertising the resulting locators to existing ILNP hosts. A single-homed site can thereby gain provider diversity while both communicating endpoints retain their ILNP implementations and applications. Hosts use their existing locator-cache and update mechanisms.
Assessment method
Primary specification review; no runtime experiment
Source context
RFC 6740 site multihoming architecture
Outstanding qualification
Before/after witness: one provider becomes two through the same border router; configure the added link, routing policy and correct Router Advertisements. The hosts must already support the selected ILNPv6/TCP and Locator Update mechanisms, including multiple locators. No new endpoint agent, application library or multipath TCP is introduced. This is not transparent conversion of legacy IP hosts. Locator state and policy can change without software replacement; participation by existing endpoint logic is explicit. Provider provisioning, peer reachability and operational configuration remain necessary. No lossless failover, dual-router coordination implementation or executable integration is qualified.
