E04-ND: Yes

Rationale

Silva, Macedo and Costa (2022), NDN Content Store and Caching Policies: Performance Evaluation, report executed ndnSIM 2.7 experiments with scenario, method and quantitative results. Section 5 specifies two topologies, cache-placement fractions, request workloads, replacement policies and 20 simulations per scenario. Measured outputs include cache-hit ratio, traffic, retrieval delay, retransmissions and hop count. This is external measurement of software execution, not an exclusively analytical prediction. The measured common mechanism is cache-assisted NDN Interest/Data retrieval.

Assessment method

Revised E04 documentary reassessment of executed simulation measurements; no new benchmark

Source context

Independent Computers 2022 study and ndnSIM implementation documentation

Outstanding qualification

Yes is scoped to simulated content-store and retrieval behavior. ndnSIM integrates ndn-cxx/NFD code but also supports simulator-specific legacy content stores; the individual replacement policies are not established as the selected production NFD implementation. Simulated links and historical software do not establish current NFD performance, Ethernet wire costs, signature costs, physical deployment or global capacity. Independent attribution is based on the study authors and affiliations being distinct from the documented simulator authors; no exhaustive affiliation audit is claimed. Dataset metadata and retained paper were reviewed, without downloading multi-gigabyte result archives or rerunning experiments. The article figure caption says 43 nodes where its setup/table say 42 routers; this discrepancy is retained and does not erase the described experiment.
