E02-BL: Yes
Rationale
Silverajan, Vajaranta and Kolehmainen (Tampere University of Technology) published Home Network Security: Modelling Power Consumption to Detect and Prevent Attacks on Homenet Routers, AsiaJCIS 2016, DOI 10.1109/AsiaJCIS.2016.10; the paper is retained in Kolehmainen’s public dissertation. Section IV-D analyzes a no-HMAC Babel route-injection scenario. The selected RFC 8966 no-MAC/no-DTLS profile retains the underlying unauthenticated Hello/IHU/Update trust boundary explicitly described in RFC 8966 section 6. This is an independent empirical security assessment of that mechanism.
Assessment method
Primary-document and source-scope analysis; no new full-stack execution
Source context
Primary evidence reviewed 2026-10-15; retained hashes in round228-sources.json
Outstanding qualification
Historical experiment: Quagga-RE-derived Babel on OpenWrt/Linux 4.1.16, with Homenet components. Credit only the no-authentication control-plane analysis; it is not a test of the selected ULA hierarchy/filters or all RFC 8966 behavior. IPv4-prefix flooding measurements and power numbers do not transfer to the IPv6-only selected configuration. E04 and G05 remain Pending.
