E02-BA: Yes

Rationale

Hoque, Lee, Potharaju, Killian and Nita-Rotaru published Automated Adversarial Testing of Unmodified Wireless Routing Implementations (Turret-W, 2016). Their external implementation assessment includes batman-adv 2014.1.0, including OGM/TQ manipulation and packet-dropping attacks. The selected BATMAN_IV mechanism still consumes advertised TQ and uses it in next-hop selection in Linux 6.12 bat_iv_ogm.c. This maps the protocol-level security analysis to a mechanism actually present in the selected composition.

Assessment method

Primary-document and source-scope analysis; no new full-stack execution

Source context

Primary evidence reviewed 2026-10-15; retained hashes in round228-sources.json

Outstanding qualification

The authors are university/industry researchers, not the batman-adv implementation team identified by this report. Credit the bounded independent routing-security assessment only. No audit of Linux 6.12, automatic transfer of old replay bugs, current attack reproduction, or evaluation of every optional feature is claimed. E04 remains Pending for the exact selected version/configuration.
