Back to matrix

D02-TO: Yes

Rationale

The Tor daemon is packaged for ordinary Debian/Ubuntu amd64 and arm64 hosts. Onion v3 service configuration adds local files and a backend socket, not a special network device. This supported Linux userspace configuration needs no project-specific kernel module or kernel rebuild. The operating system provides ordinary TCP/IP sockets.

Assessment method

Primary-documentation analysis; no software execution

Source context

Tor onion service official installation/architecture documentation, reviewed 2026-10-15

Outstanding qualification

Documentary installation/dependency finding, not a new live deployment. Package installation, service configuration and interface privileges remain separate D01 questions. No claim that every distribution image enables all required stock facilities.
