D02-RI: Yes

Rationale

Linux 6.12 provides stock IEEE 802.15.4/6LoWPAN networking with RFC 6282 IPHC and ordinary IPv6/UDP sockets. Its source includes RPL routing-header handling and an IPV6_RPL_LWTUNNEL configuration option for RFC 6554. The RPL leaf control exchange can plausibly be implemented in userspace through existing ICMPv6 facilities, while a userspace DTLS 1.3 library protects endpoint UDP records. These concrete facilities support a composition without a new out-of-tree networking module.

Assessment method

Documentary module-dependency plausibility; complete composition not executed

Source context

Linux 6.12 kernel documentation/source, wolfSSL DTLS API documentation and selected RFCs

Outstanding qualification

Conditional architectural plausibility, not a complete executable or interoperability result. Choose a stock kernel build with the necessary IPv6, 802.15.4, 6LoWPAN and RPL-header facilities already enabled and a supported radio driver; a build lacking them may require replacement or rebuilding and is not this witness. Stock modules are permitted by D02. RPL header support alone is not an RPL control-plane implementation: OF0, non-storing leaf signaling, RFC 6775 registration and the selected external-PSK DTLS 1.3 integration remain unqualified. The wolfSSL feature documentation supplies a userspace DTLS 1.3 candidate, not proof of the exact psk_ke/AES-128-GCM configuration. No root-free operation, radio-free hardware, runtime test or E03 completeness is inferred.
